Website Updates

The Leinster league rules have been updated. There is a link to the rules under External Links.
A history of the leagues has been added to the Leinster Chess Union site. Click the link under External Links to view. A huge thanks to John Loughran who researched and collated all the data. If anyone has any further information or data that can be added to the history of the Leinster Chess Union, please forward to John.
The Chess League website has undergone a major overhaul. If you have links to any part of the site, please update them. The old links will work for the present, but the webpages will be taken offline in the New Year. There has been no loss of information or data in the upgrade.
As part of the upgrade of the site, a new feature has been added. All tables on the league pages can now be downloaded to Excel. The files will be downloaded in the .xlsx format. The files can be downloaded in Colour or Black & White. The downloaded files will have the Print Area set and the paper size set to A4, so printing of the contents will not require any settings to be changed.

Unregistered players - points deductions
13-Jan-2024
It's the time of year when penalties are applied for players not registered with the ICU. Per Rule 6.2, the penalty is that a team loses all points for a match where any of their players was unregistered. These have now been applied, and will be returned as players' ICU registrations are renewed. Note points won't be returned immediately a player is registered - the site takes an updated registration list from the ICU every couple of weeks and updates from that. If you have any queries over which players are unregistered on a given team, let us know.

New players and FIDE ratings
18-Dec-2023
The ICU have asked us to advise that players in the top four divisions with no ICU number (ie who have never registered with the ICU before) create issues with FIDE rating of the leagues - without an ICU number, a player can't be linked to an existing FIDE profile or have a new one created. We have been asked to ensure any clubs in the top four divisions who use such players advise of their ICU number as soon as possible - ideally well in advance of the month-end, when games go in for FIDE ratings. Given this issue can delay FIDE rating of leagues, and at the request of the ICU, we will be enforcing penalties for breach of this rule (also covered under Rule 6.2) more strictly than usual. Note the usual penalties for unregistered players (under Rule 6.2) will be applied in January. These will be returned as the ICU confirm players' registrations.
